One thing I hear often from busy women is how difficult it is to maintain consistency in their diet and exercise with the ever-increasing demands on their schedule. They both struggle to find the time and the mental bandwidth to achieve the body change they want. They are tired of failing on time and enjoyment restrictive diets and training plans. They are dying for simple and effective.

I needed to create this program because there are SO MANY fad diets on the market that are simply unfair to us. They have us obsessing over calories, grams and macros, and spending an unrealistic amount of time in the gym every week. They have the best of intentions but they leave us feeling like more of a failure when we've learned nothing about ourselves and we've run out of the willpower to maintain the rules. These programs exist in a vacuum, they don't have our busy lifestyle in mind and they and give us zero autonomy to be an active participant in our results, which I believe is a linchpin for sustained success.

We busy women don't have time for that. We need a solution that arms us with confidence and competence in a forever solution. And we need the support to work towards that. We need to feel accomplished, successful and powerful...I'm here to help you do that.

For much of my life, I've had a disordered relationship with food and exercise. I've been either dedicated and training hard or completely off the rails. In the past, I've much preferred all-in restrictive programs but I couldn't see how in doing so, I was self-sabatoging over and over. My friends came to know my alter-egos, the Go-For-It Over-Indulger or the No-Nonesense Dedicated Debbie-Downer.

​I held my ability to follow the rules as a security blanket as it meant I would never, ever let myself get out of control. Until I did.

​
I was postpartum with my second child, under inordinate stress at work, nursing a baby through all hours of the night and wrought with mom-guilt for prioritizing my career. I'd start a diet every Monday and fail by sundown. I couldn't see where my dedication 
could exist in my busy lifestyle, so for 15 months, I had essentially resigned myself to staying stuck in a body I hated ​and didn't take care of. I finally became fed up with that story and hopped off the couch to ask my husband to take my before pictures. This time, I had to do things differently. I had to apply the training and nutrition knowledge that I had, but in a way that made sense for my incredibly busy lifestyle. I traded long-duration cardio for short-intense exercise and I stopped the all-or-nothing attitude towards food. I learned about biofeedback cues to stop following diets and start eating for my own individualized fat loss. I reshaped my body and healed my relationship with food and exercise. And, I continue to sustain this way of living amongst a busy life with two little boys and running a business.

Within a password protected member portal, I give you a downloadable Fat Loss Blueprint with clear steps for how to eat and workout for fat loss. I explain the fat loss vs. weight loss mindset, introduce short, intense fitness and preview what will be covered in our six week coaching group.

meal & Workout plans

You'll receive bi-weekly workout plans to be completed at home with a simple pair of dumbbells - no gym membership necessary. You'll also receive delicious and easy fat loss food options to choose from bi-weekly in the categories of "make ahead", "on the fly" and "easy at home" breakfast, snack, lunch and dinner options.

All workout movements are broken down in a form glossary with easy to follow videos. Each workout is then accompanied by a video demonstrating Metabolic Effect's Rest-Based Training methodology, which I use exclusively in this program.

WEEKLY COACHING

On Monday and Thursday of each week, you'll receive a message from me in your inbox with our weekly Check Your PULSE, a system that helps you to individualize your fat loss trajectory. We will work through Push, Undo, Listen, Sample and Edit so you walk away with a foundation to continue forever.

SUPPORT & COMMUNITY

Within a private FB community, you'll meet, interact with and get support from other like-minded women. I will check in with the group daily with reminders, video and answers to all your fat loss and mindset questions.
You'll also receive one 45 minute call with me to talk strategic about your individualized goals.


WHO IS BUSY BUT BURNIN' FOR?

  • It's for those who are time-starved and want simple, actionable tools to achieve fat loss.
​​​You won't be receiving a text book long syllabus with complicated instructions. This program employs the minimum effective dose of fat loss method, results with the smallest amount of effort - perfect for those with a busy lifestyle.
  • It's for those who want to get consistent with their diet and exercise.
​Busy But Burnin' workouts and meals are designed to promote consistency through simplicity. The workouts are done at home or in your yard with two sets of dumbbells. Meals can be shopped for and made simply to seamlessly fit into your on the go life.
  • It's for those who want to see body change, not just weight loss. ​
In this program, I show you how to not only lose weight but maintain and build muscle, thus shaping your body and enhancing your metabolism.
  • It's for those who want to stop chasing fad diets for good. 
​You will learn to start thinking for yourself through the fat loss framework I've created (Check Your PULSE). You leave the program understanding your hunger, energy and cravings and not only what to do but when to do it for the results you want. You'll stop looking for black and white rules because you know how to listen to yourself.​ You'll be armed and ready to Check Your PULSE, whenever it's needed. 

WHO IS BUSY BUT BURNIN' NOT​ FOR?

  • This program is not for you if you’re not willing to work hard. 
​Effective exercise is intense (intensity is relative and all fitness levels are welcome). If you’re not willing to get outside your comfort zone, this is not for you. 
  • Those who want to spend hours in the gym. 
​​If you have the “must do more cardio” mentality, this program is not for you. This workout employs short, intense workouts complemented by relaxing walks. If you are not willing to drop your moderate intensity cardio, this program is not for you.
  • If you do not want to get leaner by gaining lean muscle mass. 
​This program is a departure from the typical calorie in/calorie out model. We focus on getting tighter and changing our shape with fat loss and muscle gain.
  • If you’re only looking for a quick fix. 
​Though it’s probable you will see fast results in this program, our focus is on sustainability. Doing now what we can maintain forever. If you want hardcore and restrictive, this program is not for you.

​"This program was far and away the most rewarding and manageable program to follow. Working a full time job, with occasional travel, and a four year old and a two year old leaves limited ‘me’ time. I was always a big runner but that was very time consuming and getting up before 5 was exhausting! I would 'try' weights but was never really sure if I was doing them correctly. Being able to get in great workouts in 20 minutes was key for me…and not having to get up as early in the morning and even sneaking a work out in between work and picking the kids up was a HUGE benefit. I was 'clean eating' and making more of a focus on reading the ingredients on what I was eating / incorporating a lot more fiber and veggies and less starch into my meals. I also have been trying to do 'easy swaps' like Ezekiel bread and kale chips instead of Tostitos. I was unhappy with the changes that were happening to my body as I entered 52 years. I thought I had made necessary adjustments to my diet, but nothing was working and I was gaining weight and not just some weight but, 10 lbs in 9 months. It was also difficult to fully change my eating habits because I am not the primary grocery shopper / food preparer in my home...my husband enjoys those responsibilities. I asked my family if they would commit to 4 weeks of healthier eating and exercise and they agreed. With Jessica's lead to a better understanding of how strength training positively affect our metabolism, I was able to change my diet. Her recipes were eye-opening and delicious. As a busy mom working full time at a high-stress, corporate job, finding time to take care of myself was a daily challenge, and something that never took priority. Add working an opposite schedule from my husband to the mix, and me-time seemed impossible. After many discouraging attempts to find an effective workout that I was actually able to stick to and work into my schedule, along came this fantastic 6 week program. Finally, something that worked for me! Having the option to choose a 5 or 15 minute workout meant that there was time. Every day. And to make things even easier, there are workout options that don’t require any equipment so they can be done anytime, anywhere. Having tried several different programs, I can honestly say that this program is the most user-friendly program for busy folks like me! Most importantly, I saw and felt results. It works. I lost 15 lbs. and just over 13 inches as a result of participating in this program. If I can complete this program successfully, then you can too.   • What if I’m going to be out of town or on vacation during the 6-week program?
​You will be able to access this program anywhere. Our private member portal on www.jessicaoar.com, FB community and content sent to your email have everything you need to follow along. Workouts can be done in a simple hotel gym with dumbbells (or modifications can be made using just bodyweight) and meal plans will give you framework for how to eat out. You don’t need to be tied down to do this!
  • Do I need a gym membership?
​No, these workouts can be done in the comfort of your own home or yard with two sets of dumbbells!
  • What if I don’t have a FB account?
​No problem, you’ll still have access to the member portal on www.jessicaoar.com and the emails that will come right to your inbox within the coaching modules. BUT, the magic happens in the community of this program, connecting with me and others daily as you work towards results! I would suggest creating one, only if to just use it for this program.
  • What if I have food intolerances or diet preferences?
​This is not a one-sized fits all program. I can assist you with tailoring the meal plan to your preferences/needs. Most meals are grain and dairy free, with option to add in.
  • Does this program require me to take/buy additional supplements? 
​While I do share my favorite brands with you, you are not required to buy any supplements to complete this program other than a container of protein powder, brand of your choice. Any additional supplements are optional.
  • Am I in good enough shape to take part in this program? 
​​The workouts are available to ALL fitness levels. Modifications are given so that you can complete your workouts safely and progress them only when you are ready. You’ll see the words “intense” but intensity is relative to each individual on any given day. As a Metabolic Effect Certified Trainer, my workouts utilize ME's Rest-Based Training, which is for each participant to push hard until rest is needed, then rest completely to be able to push hard again. Lots of rest means lots of hard work!
  • I'm worried I won't be able to push myself hard when I workout alone. Is there any support for this?
​​YES! Learning how to do short, intense fitness is a new skill. Like any new skill, practice makes progress. Not only will you be repeating this training method over the six weeks for plenty of practice, you will also follow along to videos with me so you can see the Rest-Based Training in action.
